History
The MUSE is part of the former Monument Mills which was founded in the 1850s and operated for over a hundred years. This photo of the village of Housatonic, looking south, includes the MUSE in the left of the frame.
Originally focused on woolen products, Monument Mills became known for their fine Jacquard woven bedspreads.
In the 1970s , under the direction of Jane Fitzpatrick, Country Curtains moved into the building and manufactured their curtains here until 2018.
